We may have lost another talented Canadian to Los Angeles, but in Lisa Ng’s case, we can keep up with her exciting adventures via her lifestyle blog, This Beautiful Day. Whether she’s writing about getting in shape at a rave-themed gym in New York City or how to pamper your skin after getting too much sun in California, her blog is always fun and refreshingly sincere. We caught up with Lisa to find out how life as an expat blogger extraordinaire is treating her.

Finish this sentence: I love Toronto because…
…it’s incredibly multicultural which also means lots of great food! Everyone respects each other and the culture of others. I think Toronto is a very open-minded city in this way. I notice this more as I travel around the world. Not everyone is necessarily as respectful or as accepting of the cultural diversity that Toronto is known for.
What are three things you simply cannot live without?
My Laptop: My work is mainly freelance and mobile. I need my laptop and a fast internet connection. If those two things are in place, then I can be anywhere in the world!
A Positive Outlook: Okay, turn on the cheese machine, but I actually believe this to be true. A negative attitude is the worst thing anyone can have. You look at all the people who complain all day and it’s no wonder they attract all this negativity back to them. I totally believe that you do get back what you put out there. I strive to be as positive as possible (and this is hard for me too), but try to be realistic as well. I try to find the best in everyone and in every situation – but that’s not to say that people don’t piss me off! It’s about letting go of that sometimes.
My Husband: We’ve been together since high school and he is my rock.
What’s your favourite restaurant and why?
Enoteca Sociale. I’m obsessed with their Bucatini.
What’s your favourite drink/cocktail and where do you go to get it?
I really enjoy the homemade ginger ale sweetened with agave nectar at Fresh. Toasty Almond tea from Tealish on Queen West is also a close second.
