Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
I am the CEO and designer of Shay Lowe Jewellery. I’ve been designing for seven years and I love being an entrepreneur.
What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
I always try to find a way to turn challenges into opportunities. Maintaining a work/life balance as an entrepreneur is always challenging but it has been an opportunity to improve my lifestyle in so many ways. Growing my company, seizing and creating opportunities are incredibly rewarding. There is so much freedom with being an entrepreneur and things are always changing which keeps it exciting. The world is out there – go get it.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Friends and family, laughter, and love.
Finish this sentence: I love Toronto because…
…it is so rich and diverse in arts and culture. The dynamic nature of the city is very stimulating and exciting. And I also love it because of the tremendous opportunity here and all that it has given me.
What’s your favourite restaurant and why?
Toronto is a constant plethora of great restaurants. Playa Cabana has the best Mexican. So delicious!
What’s one of your favourite go-to designers or accessories lines and why do you sport their fashions?
One of my favourite local designers is Greta Constantine. I have several of their gowns and I love the way they make me feel. And Shay Lowe Jewellery of course. *winks*
What products are always in your beauty bag?
A great mascara (Eyes To Kill by Armani) and a great lip balm. My favourite is the Love Balm Rose by Jurlique. Another absolute must have is Clinique Moisture Surge.
What style trends are you obsessed with right now?
I was in NYC recently and I am loving the street style trends. Everyone was wearing ankle boots. So many great styles, often matched with a great hat, or leather waxed jeans and a glam statement necklace. I love this look; a bit of street edge mixed with glam… but effortless.
What’s your favourite spa or service?
I love a fabulous massage at the Shangri-La Hotel, Miraj Hammam Spa by Claudalie Paris. Hammam Spa on King West is also great and their hammam steam room is the best in the city. Happy Foot in Yorkville is also great for a serious foot massage.
