Burger lovers rejoice! If you’ve ever had heated debates over which restaurant has the city’s best burger, now’s the time to see if your opinion is king. From September 1st to 7th, Le Burger Week comes to Toronto! That means participating restaurants are offering an a signature burger at discounted rates the entire week while burger fans vote online to determine once and for all who has the best burger in town. Some of the city’s most beloved restaurants and diners, from The Lakeview to Bannock, will put their best patties and buns forward. We caught up with Montrealers and Le Burger Week co-founders Na’eem Adam and Thierry Rassam to find out more about the carnivore-themed week sweeping our nation in six different cities and counting…
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
Theirry and I are two food loving entrepreneurs who love working on projects that help restaurants get their delicious voices heard.
What inspired you to start Le Burger Week?
Finding the best burger in Montreal! It was a hot debate. And it just escalated from there. We want to find the best burger in Canada and eventually in the world! Burgers are serious business these days.
What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
Trying to not gain 20 pounds! Now that’s a challenge, so we are hosting boot camps in different cities to help bring down the calorie count. The best reward is when restaurants turn around and say it was a huge blast for them.
Where would you like to see Le Burger Week in the next five years?
Le Burger Week Canada is definitely in our books. But we also want to branch out to more international cities like New York, Paris, Tokyo, and more.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Sadly, my phone, a go-to resto, and my family.
Finish this sentence: I love Montreal because…
…it reminds me of vacation, sometimes.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Tough question. Can I say I have 30 favourites right now? If I had to choose, it would be my backyard BBQ!
What’s one of your favourite go-to designers?
Frank & Oak is my thing right now. I always have something from them on.
Do you have a regimen to help you stay focused and balanced?
I believe good, healthy food can bring balance. Mix that in with a bunch of squats and you have yourself a balanced life!
What style trends are you obsessed with right now?
You will never catch me without a denim shirt.
What’s your favourite grooming/spa service?
The Atelier Frank & Oak. It’s a barber shop as well as a store and community space in Montreal’s Mile End neighbourhood.
Let’s get social for a mo’. How can people stay up-to-date with your busy life?
Instagram and Twitter.
