As 2013 races to a finish we take advantage of the holidays to express gratitude for the good things and the fabulous people that surround us. A New Year is the perfect time to brush off the not-so-greats and prepare for a fresh beginning to make the next 12 months full of oh-so-greats.
Yes on the night before the very 1st day of a new year with the help of festive spirit and oodles of the bubbly stuff, hopes are high as our cups runneth over with optimism and party goers everywhere dance, drink and dream their way into the year that will finally bring forth the fortune and recognition we deserve!
Fast forward to New Year’s Day when it appears all 2014 arrived with is a headache from hell and some questionable pictures on your android. But what an amazing party it was and what is the perfect party without the perfect playlist? To keep your NYE soiree memorable and to make the morning after well worth the pain, take some inspiration from our song list to keep your party popping as you twerk your way into 2014. And the moment 2014 arrives, cease twerking and never attempt nor speak of it ever again… it belongs to 2013 now. Happy New Year!!
Blurred Lines: Robin Thicke Ft. T.I and Pharrell Williams
Although totally void of any sentiment this catchy chart topper became one of the year’s best selling, longest reigning songs with over 6 million copies sold and a total of 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard top Hot 100. Oh and Robin Thicke sang it at the VMA’s whilst grinding his crotch on Miley Cyrus’ behind so what better excuse to get your dirty dancing on than this naughty number.
Celebration: Kool and the Gang
This is of course the quintessential celebration song and what else is New Year’s Eve if not the biggest celebration of the year?!
Get Lucky: Daft Punk Ft. Pharrell
This was a huge summer hit rivalling Mr. Thicke and his musical entourage and in fact became their biggest hit since ‘Daft Punk’ started out 15 years ago. Pharrell’s immediately recognisable vocals paired with a funky dance beat make it an excellent addition to your NYE soundtrack.
Party Like It’s 1999: Prince
A solid reminder to never take advantage of this night and no matter what year you are ringing in you should always party, like it’s 1999.
Bruno Mars: Treasure
This multi-talented little chap ended the year with a bang after being named Billboard’s Top Overall Male Artist of 2013 and it’s catchy, upbeat tunes like this one that have grabbed everybody’s attention. You want more chicks on the floor, hit play on this.
Daft Punk: One More Time
A great dance tune that will act as the perfect soundtrack as you and 2013 get your party on and celebrate, just one more time.
We can’t stop: Miley Cyrus
Love her or hate her, Miss Cyrus was undoubtedly one of the most talked about celebs of 2013. So with this tune we salute her and hope that this dance floor acknowledgment is a good enough send off to ensure that 2014 contains less Miley Madness and that she does indeed, decide to stop or at the very least take it down a notch.
Hypnotize: Biggie Smalls
Because it’s a no-fail. When this jam comes on, everyone hits the dance floor.
New Year’s Day: U2
The slower pace of this obviously appropriately themed song is perfect for when the New Year has arrived and the party is winding down. It’s also great for any new romances still stuck together on the dance floor.
Auld Langs Syne
You just can’t ring in the New Year without this traditional song, perfect for swaying, smooching and singing along to as we say our final goodbyes to 2013.
