Not all sunglasses are made equal. You have your own unique, gorgeous face and eyeballs to take care of. This summer season, make sure you not only have the hottest shades but that they’re the right ones for your face shape.
I spoke to Kim Lam at the hip little shop, Eye Wonder Optical to get all the info you need to make the right choice.
BEST FIT FOR: SQUARE FACES
For square faces, Kim says you need to choose glasses that don’t taper. The sides of the sunglasses should follow the straight up and down angle of your face. Anything that tapers inward will cut into your cheekbone and make the bottom of your face look too wide.

BEST FIT FOR: OVALFACES
Angles are great for oval faces. But, look for something that is wide on the brow and shorter across the cheek.
BEST FIT FOR: HEART-SHAPED FACES
Heart-shaped faces are the lucky ladies who can pull off awesome cat-eye sunglasses. The way they sweep upwards will compliment your face.

BEST FIT FOR: ROUND FACE
Anyone with a round face? Well, you’ve got it best of all, because you can pull off anything.
Kim stressed a few little tips crucial to making sure you’re purchasing the right sunglasses…
THE RIGHT FIT
There should never be a gap between your nose and the bridge of the glasses. A gap means all the weight and pressure of the frames will be on the sides of your nose, instead of spread evenly. This doesn’t necessarily apply if the glasses have nose pads.

To avoid a masculine look, choose something with a thinner, softer brow. Make sure it angles along in the same shape of your eyebrows.
If your glasses slide down your nose (even though they fit comfortably on the bridge), bring them into an optical shop to be adjusted. That has to do with the earpieces.
THE RIGHT LENSES
Polarized lenses are the best for the beach. The film inside the lenses will block any white light glare, like off the water. The other option, a solid tint or gradient tint, won’t protect as well but is softer on the face.

THE RIGHT PERSON
As with most things, asking a knowledgeable pro like Kim is a sure way to be the coolest looking chick (or stud) this summer. With prices at Eye Wonder Optical averaging around the $250 mark, you can look ultra-luxurious without taking a huge hit to your wallet.
