New year, same restrictions. It feels like we’ve been living in a time loop for the past two years as we are quickly approaching March 2022 in yet another lockdown. After yesterday’s announcement by the Ford government that Ontario will be reverting back to our previous lockdown restrictions, it has been announced that the CN Tower will be closing until it is safe to re-open.

Shortly after Ford’s announcement, the CN Tower posted a statement on twitter declaring they will be closed to the public as of today, Tuesday January 4th.
“In accordance with provincial mandates to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, effective January 4, the CN Tower will suspend its operation. The safety of our staff and guests is our top priority. We look forward to welcoming guests back to the Tower as soon as public health authorities and Canada Lands Company determine that it is safe to do so.”
With indoor gatherings now restricted to 5 people, it wouldn’t make sense to keep this famous landmark open for the time being. The tower is expected to reopen in 21 days but we hope this lockdown will not extend past the original projections.
