Just in! The Hazelton Hotel just announced the new chapter in its history with a major renovation. Planned are reimagined lobby and luxury guest rooms, as well as a refined spa and a new approach to food and drinks at Chef Mark McEwan’s signature ONE Restaurant.
Opened in 2008, The Hazelton Hotel has always been a world-class luxury spot in Toronto.
“The Hazelton was born with the vision of bringing international luxury to Toronto.
This exciting next step reasserts our passion for continually elevating the standards of luxury within our city, as well as within the wider global hospitality industry,” says Hani Roustom, Managing Director, The Hazelton Hotel.
The renovation will be curated by Yabu Pushelberg, the original design firm. While reinterpreting the hotel’s classic aesthetic, the team still commits to preserving the hotel’s identity.
“The Hazelton Hotel was one of our first major interior projects, and to have the opportunity to re-envision the hotel’s experience was an exercise in our evolution as designers, expanding on our original vision through subtle, incremental design decisions that will invigorate the guest experience,” says George Yabu, Founding Partner, Yabu Pushelberg.
But more on the renovations. The newly reimagined lobby will be featuring a palette of soft creams and pewters, custom-designed oversized furniture pieces, and the original deep-green stone slab flooring and leather paneling.
The restaurant’s new design will enhance the dining concept by inviting guests into the plush dining room. The menu, created by Chefs Mark McEwan and Darby Piquette will feature a diverse and approachable fare and will continue to include only the freshest ingredients.
“ONE restaurant has become known as a Yorkville hotspot and I am excited for the opportunity to work with Yabu Pushelberg again to create a stylish setting that complements ONE’s contemporary menus,”
says Chef Mark McEwan, Chef and Founder, The McEwan Group.
The renewed guest rooms and three spectacular signature suites will be featuring a chic contemporary palette and layered textures, as well as modern technologies. Imagine soft greys with pops of teal, bronze paneling and rose-tinted mirrors — this is what 77 renewed guest rooms will look like.
And last but not least, the Spa by Valmont at The Hazelton will go under renovation as well! An oasis for the body and mind, it will include a refined spa space and gym and a new couples’ massage room in calming tones. Ready to escape from busy city life? Spa by Valmont is a place to go.
“The Hazelton is a landmark in our city, and over the past decade, thanks to the efforts of our remarkable team, it has become one of the world’s iconic hotels; I am honored to have been a part of this journey and look forward to an exciting future as we reveal our transformation to all our guests next year,” says Hani Roustom, Managing Director, The Hazelton Hotel.
Under Roustom’s management, The Hazelton Hotel has secured a record-breaking number one position on Trip Advisor in Toronto for 41 consecutive months. It has also peaked in occupancy and profitability. Being the Toronto’s first luxury hotel located in Yorkville, Hazelton is an iconic landmark and the only city’s member of The Leading Hotels of The World.
The Hazelton Hotel and restaurant will remain open during the renovation, which is set to be completed by early summer 2020. More to come!
