The YSL Rouge Sur Mesure Device, otherwise known as their lipstick printer, may be new to Canada but it definitely isn’t a new product. Makeup vloggers Manny Mua and Robert Welsh as well as TikTokers Meredith Duxbury and Erin Dugan Jurchak all have taken to the internet to share their reviews on this interesting device. The reviews have been mixed some find it cool while others find it gimmicky.
Canadian tech influencer Katarina Mogus had the chance to try out the device and believes the YSL Rouge Sur Mesure is the future of tech and personalized makeup. “What I love about this device is how compact it is, easy to use and customizable. You can shade match with a photo of a celebrity you saw online, perfectly match your lipstick to your dress, or even recreate any shade you want,” says Mogus. She used the device to create a red lipstick that is the same shade as her iPhone.
In order to use the printer to create your own lipstick, you must purchase cartridges trios that come in a variety of colours. Insert the cartridges into the device. Then you must download the app and pair the device via Bluetooth. Now take a picture of the item that is the desired shade you want. The app will shade match according to the picture and will show you what the shade will look like on you. Once you have a shade match click create. The device then dispenses pigment into the compact which you then swirl together using the YSL lip brush. Now you can go ahead and apply your custom-made YSL lipstick. The disk on top is magnetic and detaches so you can bring the custom shade with you on the go.
Mogus also used the printer to re-create a lipstick shade spotted on Hailey Bieber. “I am looking forward to being creative with this device! I am obsessed with matching my entire outfit, and can’t wait to incorporate a custom lipstick into my everyday look. I see makeup as a form of self-care and it brings joy into my morning routine,” she explains. If you want to make your own custom lipstick you can purchase the device for $449.00 at yslbeauty.ca and the cartridges for $125.
