Nothing says Canada quite like Tim Hortons. Its annual Smile Cookie Campaign is returning on September 17 for its 22nd year. Head into your local Tim Hortons and put a smile on your face with a chocolate chunk cookie. Know that all proceeds will go to local charities. Who doesn’t want to eat cookies, especially for a great cause?
People and organizations across the country embrace this annual campaign. Sean Sargent, a car dealership owner hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, scooped up 20,000 happy faced treats. He plans on delivering them to local schools. His only motivation was to give back to his community and show local students how easy it is to make a difference. Health Sciences North Foundation (HSN) partnered with Tim Hortons in the Sudbury area. Together they’re decorating Smile Cookies and pre-selling Smile-A-Gram packaged cookies that they deliver. Last year, more than 5,000 cookies were sold, and this year, they hope to crumble that record. In Windsor, Ontario, Regional Police Chief, Bryan Larkin and members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service took part in a cookie decorating event with a local school to help raise awareness for the week-long campaign.
“The magic of the Smile Cookie is that there is a real smile of a Canadian benefitting behind each and every one,” says Alex Macedo, President, Tim Hortons. “We are incredibly proud and deeply appreciative of what our restaurant owners and guests accomplish together each year with this program. Raising millions of dollars to help those who need it most. Through donations to charities from coast-to-coast.” The annual fundraising event supports more than 500 local charities and organizations across Canada. More than 6.5 million Smile Cookies sold during last year’s campaign.
The Smile Cookie Campaign is on until September 23rd and each cookie only cost $1. So give a smile and get a smile in return! To view Toronto charities and organizations benefiting from the campaign click the link Smile Cookies Toronto.
