The news of one of the most popular Chinese takeout pop-ups opening a physical location has been brewing for sometime. In fact, they did open a location for their sister restaurant, MIMI Chinese, which has also become another hotspot in the 6ix for the cuisine. But now, Sunny’s Chinese in Toronto has an opening date for the flagship brand, which had started its story first as a pop-up.
Sunny’s Chinese is now here to stay in Toronto!
The restaurant, which is located at Kensington Market, will be opening its doors to the public on August 18. Much like the brand itself, the interiors of the space will hold a casual flair and style which diners can enjoy. As for the menu, it’s curated by Schwartz and Culinary Partner, Chef Braden Chong. A selection of natural wines will be available as well.
Sunny’s Chinese made a name for themselves after their first pop-up in November 2020. The team specialises in dishes that bring out the flavours of different regions in China.
Sunny’s Chinese in Toronto had planned to open a brick-and-mortar much earlier on, but like many other businesses, the pandemic too had put their visions on hold. The pop-up had served a range of dishes, including variety of noodles, vegetables, Sichuan sausage, spicy mapo tofu, chicken, and lots more.
You can find similar items on the MIMI Chinese menu, which also has the brand’s popular Four Foot Belt Noodle. This comes with their house chili oil, mushroom and cucumber.
Reservations for Sunny’s Chinese in Toronto open on August 5 and you can make a booking on the website.
