A popular French restaurant is celebrating winter with its new ‘From the Sea’ tasting menu. The pescatarian-focused offerings are a change from the regular chef’s tasting menu that’s typically supplied by the restaurant. The five-course experience brings seasonal dishes with ingredients from not just Canada, but New Zealand and Santa Monica as well.
The menu is the culinary creation of Executive Chef Ben Heaton. Does the name ring a bell? If it does, then you probably know him as the Chef behind the city’s beloved Lapinou Bistro. For this new experience at Lapinou, some of the ingredients featured include Meyer lemon, finger limes and other citrusy items for highlighted flavours.
“We have created a menu that is perfect to kick off the new year as its light, fresh, acidic, full of flavour and perfectly emblematic of Lapinou’s essence,” said Chef Heaton in a press release statement.
The first course is Seaweed Parker House Rolls, next to Cara Cara Orange. The second course has Raw Hiramasa, which then goes into Snow Crab Rice with sea urchin and Meyer lemon. For the fourth offering, you’ve got east coast style Madai Seabream, with Salt Spring Island mussel chowder.
And for dessert? Chamomile Ice Cream with yuzu marmalade wakame and shiso. You also have the option to include beverage pairing with the tasting menu.
The menu will be available every Monday to Thursday for the rest of the winter season. Reservations for Lapinou Toronto can be made via OpenTable.
