The ice cream scene in Toronto is, to say the least, a sweet one. The city’s not only home to popular chains and franchises but also many independent ice cream shops. Ice cream is of course one of the best parts of summer and fortunately, you can find an ice cream spot in all the neighbourhoods in Toronto. New ice cream shops are always welcome in the city. This summer a Vancouver ice cream spot is opening up a spot in the city. Keep reading to find out what you can expect at this new ice cream shop.
About La Glace Ice Cream
If you want to know what’s different about this ice cream shop it’s that they serve French-style ice cream. According to the website, it’s made “with a creme anglaise base,” which means that the final end product has minimal aeration in it.
The co-founder and culinary director of the brand is Mark Tagulao, who has appeared in many Food Network Competitions. The brand is now expanding to Toronto, with its new location set to open next month. You can find La Glace ice cream shop at Union Station on the lower level.
The availability of flavours differs on a daily basis. The Vancouver location offers flavours like avocado, espresso crunch, raspberry white chocolate, fuzzy peach, and vegan milk chocolate.
Here in The 6ix, some of the rotating flavours are expected to be:
- Chocolat à la Menthe: Mint cream and dark chocolate flakes
- Citron: Lemon cream
- Framboise Blanche: Raspberry and white chocolate ganache
- Passion: Milk chocolate and passionfruit
- Vegan Cinnamon Roll
The Vancouver location also offers ice cream tasting flights, available with different toppings and flavours. Those of you with a sweet tooth will be excited to hear that you’ll also find handcrafted pastries and confectionary items at the shop. La Glace ice cream in Toronto will have a soft opening on June 6 and will officially open to the public on June 16. With summer almost approaching, we’re sure many of us we’ll be in the mood for a scoop or two of the sweet treat.
Union Summer will also be returning to Union Station for another edition. There will be entertainment, food and beverage vendors and more. It looks like it’s going to be a fun-filled summer here in The 6ix and we know that just like us, you’re also waiting for hot weather.
