Perhaps the only thing to counter the stress and chaos of TIFF 2013 is all the fabulous events that have been established to help us media people relax and breathe a little. One of our absolute favourites of these is the Essentials Lounge by EGPR, which really went above and beyond the call. The lounge, now in its fourth year, featured everything from consultations by Aveda’s National Creative Director and celeb stylist Kristjan Hayden, on to keep hair looking fierce and healthy throughout the festival; to Calvin Klein sizing people up for comfy underwear (nothing worse than ill-fitting bloomers when you’re running around like a mad man, am I right?); to Micro-Pedi and Sorel with the key ingredients to happy, soft feet… even after hours of walking and standing.
If all that wasn’t amazing enough on its own, Essentials Lounge also armed all in attendance with a TIFF Survival Kit and a TIFF Recovery Kit. The Survival Kit included tonnes of über helpful goodies like Be. Better Moisturizing Beeswax Lipbalm, Centrum Vitamins (especially good for the fast-paced coffee diet during TIFF 2013), and even an HP Slate 7 tablet to make sure we all stay connected on the go, among others. The Recovery Kit included 2-week yoga passes to help reboot our chi at Moksha Yoga Downtown and the Danforth, a Nike+ Fuelbrand accelerometer to keep track of all the post-festival exercising we do, and a gift certificate to Creeds to ensure all the dresses we wore get the proper post-wear-care they need, among others. All in all, not only was this a perfect break from all the insanity of the festival but also gave us everything we’ll need and more to make sure we live to see next year’s in one piece.
