There are many benefits that we Torontonians reap from TIFF 2013 being in town. Meryl Streep, amazing parties, exclusive opportunities to see films before the rest of the world, celebrities… did we mention Meryl Streep? Perhaps one of the best, though, for us locals who enjoy a drink (or eight), is the fact that tons of bars get their last calls extended until 4am. Though not smug about it, we do relish any chance we get to subtly thumb our noses at those liberal Montrealers and their 3am bar nights, non?
Since we don’t want you going to just any old watering hole, here are the 10 bars that we’ve picked as the best places to stay out late during the TIFF festivities.
Party with the A-list and VIPs at this super chic and intimate restaurant. Already a hot-spot for the city’s most stylish late-night lovers of food and drink throughout the rest of the non-TIFF year, it’s definitely going to be a see and be seen for the hottest celebs and locals alike.
Marben has a killer burger, along with tons of other carnivorous confections, that we know you’ll just be dying for after a few glasses of whatever. Also, they have a pretty great wine list and it’s pretty darn close to the King West strip.
The Thompson Rooftop Patio is one of our absolute favourite roof-tops in the city. Those 360-degree views of the city are stunning and a little fresh air is always a good thing when you’re enjoying your drinks responsibly… or otherwise.
Another fabulous rooftop patio right in the heart of the King West strip. Selling points? Oodles of plants for Jumanji realness plus hookahs.
Super chic new resto-lounge, Switch, comes from the brains of local night life genius Hanif Harji. With an upstairs dance floor and a popularity that has people begging to get onto the guestlist, it’s definitely one of the places that’s going to be crawling with hip young’uns during TIFF.
Um, have you seen the decor of this place? It is open concept, mezzanine awesome-sauce mixed with crack-amazeballs. Also Spanish tapas and sick drinks all night are alright too, we guess.
If Momofuku doesn’t mean something to you already, then clearly you have been hiding in a nuclear bomb shelter for the past year and should probably just return to it.
Crush Wine Bar
We could not make this list without throwing in a wine bar. Crush has an amazing selection and, as born and bred winos, the opportunity to keep sipping on pinot for an extra two hours is something we simply cannot say no to.
The Drake Hotel will be doing a full-building “Down the Line” party for the duration of TIFF 2013 that’s themed off London’s 1970s music scene. Expect plenty of grunge leather realness and limited edition cocktails with titles like The Sid Vicious and God Save the Queen. FYI, they both look awesome so check it out.
Four Seasons Hotel Toronto
Take the company jet up to Yorkville and be a classy lady until 4am (you’ll have to let us know if that’s possible) at the Four Seasons’ dbar. Only the best, dahling.
