From the films at the fest to the celebs on the carpets, TIFF 2013 is shaping up to be as monumental an occasion as ever. We become the true Hollywood North for a split second in time, with all the world’s eyes on us for the annual Toronto International Film Festival. And, naturally, during this time we also become a haven of parties, soirees, shindigs, and the like. Here are some of the cooler-than-cool parties going on in the city during TIFF 2013, and why you should likely stalk the sidewalks near their entrances…
Down the Line at The Drake Hotel – Launch Party Thursday the 5th
The Drake Hotel always does a stellar job transforming their space and pulling out all the stops in homage to the Toronto International Film Festival, and this year’s no different, with Down the Line presenting an ode to the gritty ’70s music scene in London. Think craft cocktails, tattoos on-site (for those of you brave enough), hundreds of hopped up peeps, and other surprises.

Nikki Beach TIFF Pop-up – Thursday the 5th through Sunday the 8th
The famed Nikki Beach satellite site is back at The Spoke Club this year, running from the festival’s beginning through to the end of the first weekend. With brand activations aplenty, as well as a fashion show, uber cool Sunday brunch, and parties each night, Nikki Beach is a hot spot you want to get into. Yes, you can make reservations!
Location: The Spoke Club
Grey Goose Soho House Parties – Starting Thursday the 5th
The Grey Goose Soho House parties are back this year, taking over, obviously, The Soho House. These are closed off so don’t even try sneaking in (unless your BFF is a member and they’re in good with the concierge). Stars galore will be in attendance, so if you pop a squat on the corner you might see a famous face (or 49) walk on in.
Location: It’s obvious…
AMC Storys – Starting Thursday the 5th
AMC is back in town with their Storys pop-up, taking over the historic space at 11 Duncan Street for the second year in a row. Cast parties will abound here (Sharon Stone, Mila Kunis, and Marion Cotillard are just a few of the expect starlets to pass on through), as well as a special gifting lounge by Nathalie Dubois and DPA, the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards Dinner, and the annual ONExONE charity gala (Saturday the 7th). Sadly, you’re likely not going to make it past the velvet rope…
Location: Storys at 11 Duncan Street
Grolsch Open House for TIFF 2013 – Friday the 6th through Monday the 9th
Official TIFF 2013 Sponsor Grolsch – that delicious beer hailing from the Dutch – is hosting Grolsch Open House the first weekend of TIFF, at the corner lot at Pear and John Streets. On the docket is beer, naturally, as well as some cool activations and musical acts like Choir! Choir! Choir!, Julie Fader, Brendan Canning and Guests, and more. Pop on by and pop open a green bottle top!
Location: Corner Lot at Pearl and John Streets
amfAR’s Inspiration Gala – Sunday the 8th
Not technically a TIFF 2013 party, amfAR’s Inspiration Gala during the Toronto International Film Festival will be a spectacle for a very good cause. Hilary Swank and Alan Cumming will be there, and we’ve our fingers crossed that Marc Jacobs might make an appearance (thanks to a ‘fashion presentation’ of his duds). Yes, you can get tickets, but they’ll cost you a pretty penny…
Location: The Carlu
Artists for Peace and Justice Canada 2013 Festival Lunch – Sunday the 8th
Paul Haggis’ charity that supports Haitian youth is up to its star-studded antics again at TIFF this year, bringing the celeb rain for 2013. The tix ain’t cheap (you’re looking at $1,250+), but the cause is sensational and you’ll get to rub shoulders with the likes of Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis, Adrian Brody, James Franco and the list goes on.
Location: It’s a secret…
