It was quite an evening at last night’s Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Awards Gala presented by AMC at The Trump Hotel’s America Restaurant. The evening was held in honour of the much buzzed about TIFF film Boychoir (premiering last night as well) starring Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates and Eddie Izzard. However, while the event was chalkful of A-listers sipping champagne and enjoying culinary delights from America Restaurant, it was the end of the night that closed with a bang. Along with director François Girard , the cast of Boychoir took the stage to thank the Coalition for the honour while Robin Bronk, CEO of the Creative Coalition, explained the mission of the US-based arts advocacy organisation and what it fights for (namely for the arts, arts education and against bullying). Suddenly Hoffman pulled a move that had the entire room jaw dropped. He declared, “I will match the donations of every person that donated tonight.” Well done Dustin – yet another performance that won’t be forgotten.
