“TIFF the season.” There’s nothing we love more than movie premieres and red carpets in Toronto, than star gazing at TIFF VIP afterparties and events. We’ve made it through day two, and it was a wild one. From pre- and after-parties to kick-offs and the annual producer’s ball, there was quite the series of events right across the city.
Vox Lux premiere afterparty, at Soho House Toronto hosted by Grey Goose
Grey Goose vodka and Soho House Toronto hosted a late-afternoon cocktail party for the North American premiere of Vox Lux. The second directorial feature from actor-director Brady Corbet. The film, set in the 21st century, centres around an aspiring pop star who rises to success through unusual circumstances. A selection of cinema-inspired Grey Goose cocktails circulated throughout the evening. Including the brand’s signature celebratory toast, the Grey Goose Le Fizz, a refreshing blend of Grey Goose, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and soda. The party was attended by Brady Corbet and lead actors Natalie Portman and Jude Law. Along with producers Gary Michael Walters, Christine Vachon, David Hinojosa, D.J. Gugenheim and David Litvak.

And having a great time, we might add. Jude Law was seen having a great time, staying behind to socialize well after the party ended. With the party in full swing, the DJ played “Natalie’s Rap 2.0” by The Lonely Island (featuring Natalie Portman) which made Natalie immediately start dancing and laughing with friends as they joined in on the fun. Other special guests in attendance included: Kim Cloutier, Sarah Gadon and Joe Zee.
White Boy Rick premiere afterparty, at RBC House with Diageo
RBC House is a festival hotspot and tonight was no exception. The room erupted last night at the premiere party of White Boy Rick. When Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves walked in, the energy was contagious. They were immediately greeted by fellow cast members and it was clear they were all excited to be reunited. Matthew, Camila and the rest of the cast spent the evening catching up, celebrating and even mingling with guests.
At the party, Matthew McConaughey had a chance to toast to Tequila Don Julio, “Rick’s Choice” cocktail at the RBC House. Over at the Out of Blue event, the women ruled the VIP area. Patricia Clarkson and director Carol Morley sipped on refreshing film-inspired cocktails, “Mamie’s Mule” and “Out of Thyme.” RBC House spared no detail and had birthday cake on queue to toast Jonathan Mayors 29th birthday.
Cast members Matthew McConaughey, Richie Merritt, Bel Powley, RJ Cyler and Jonathan Majors were all in attendance. Also there to support was actor and rapper Joey Badass.
Donnybrook pre-premiere party, at RBC House with Diageo
Last night RBC House, in the STORYS building, also played host to the premiere party of Donnybrook, with cast members Jamie Bell, Margaret Qualley, Frank Grillo and composer Phil Mossman all in attendance. On hand to support friend Frank Grillo was actor Armie Hammer and his wife Elizabeth Chambers who seemed to show up unexpectedly and wandered around the room chatting and snapping photos with guests.
LCD Soundsystem’s Phil Mossman kicked off the party with a special DJ set while the cast along with Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers huddled together and shared lots of laughs, told stories and dined on sliders, corn tacos and mini ice cream cones. Later in the evening, the cast enjoyed CÎROC cocktails aptly titled “The Prize” and “The Don Julio Donnybrook” while celebrating the film’s premiere.
Teen Spirit world premiere afterparty, at Love Child Social House hosted by IMDbPro
IMDbPro celebrates the world premiere of Teen Spirit.
Last night, IMDbPro celebrated its mobile app, now available for both iPhone and Android, by hosting the premiere party for Teen Spirit at Love Child Social House. Notable guests such as Elle Fanning, Max Minghella, Ursula Holliday and more danced the night away the film’s hot soundtrack featuring songs from Ellie Goulding and Robyn.
Guests played board games like Jenga and connect four in the playful Love Child Social House while enjoying cocktails and little bites from popular Toronto restaurant Cali Love.
Bold Films TIFF kick-off party, at House of Aurora with Sharp and S/ Magazines
BOLD FIims, Sharp and S/ Magazines hosted their TIFF kick-off party at The House of Aurora debuted last night at the bank hall property which has been transformed into a majestic event destination for 3 days of TIFF parties and networking events. More than 200 people attended the party with lines running down Bay, and many “not on the list” fighting to get in.
Notables in attendance included: Jake Busey, Gary Michael Walters, Billy Zane, Ed Helm, Bokeem Woodbine, Michaela Kurimsky, Jess Salgueiro, Andrea Bolley “the 6ix mom“, BOLD Films president, Gary Michael Waters, Casie Stewart, TIFF Rising Stars, Gary Busey, Co-owner of Contempo Media, Michael LaFave, and many more.
The Canada Party, at Mongrel House
Night two of the Mongrel House event series by Mongrel Media, celebrating the premieres of their films, Capernaum, Cold War, Shoplifters and Woman at War. With live music performances by Zaki Ibrahim and The Beaches. Notable guests in attendance included: Franklin Leonard, City of Toronto Film Commissioner, Zaib Shaikh, Katie Boland, Michael Seater, and Anjulie.
Hotel Mumbai premiere afterparty, at Windsor Arms Hotel
Hotel Mumbai, which focuses on the Mumbai terrorist attacks that took place 10 years ago, was celebrated after its premiere yesterday, in Yorkville at The Windsor Arms Hotel. With passed pakoras and an appearance by Hayden Christensen. Amongst them was also the cast of the film, including Dev Patel, Jason Isaacs, Nazanin Boniadi, Natasha Liu Bordizo, Tilda Cobham Hervey and Armie Hammer who was seen running the party circuit throughout town at a series of events.
8th annual Producers’ Ball, at IT House hosted by the Scott Brothers and Natasha Koifman
Hosted by Natasha Koifman of NKPR, and the Scott Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, the 8th annual Producers Ball was a truly star-studded evening, dedicated to celebrating producers and their integral role in the industry. One of the most highly anticipated events during TIFF, the intimate gala was shared with Hollywood and international directors, producers, talents and media.
Guests enjoyed beverages by Hounds Vodka, Flow Water, Trius Wine, Stella Artois, Budweiser, catering from Gusto 54 Catering, individual Apple portrait illustrations, Rollingstone cover photo booth (where Billy Zane was seen with guests striking several poses), Swarovski portrait studio, a ping-pong table (Sima Liu was seen dominating the table), and life size connect four.

Beautiful Boy premiere afterparty, at Soho House Toronto hosted by Amazon Studios and Hugo Boss
Later in the night, day two ended with the annual hot-ticket HUGO BOSS hosted party, which this year, hosted alongside Amazon Studios, served as the world premiere celebration for Felix Van Groeningen’s greatly anticipated Beautiful Boy, staring Timothée Chalamet, Steve Carell and Amy Ryan.
Timothée Chalamet, breezed into the party and headed for the second floor of the club where he was later joined by party hopper Armie Hammer, making for a Call Me By Your Name reunion of sorts. Hari Nef, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Sam Taylor-Johnson were all in attendance too.
