And let the fun times begin! It was officially TIFF day one yesterday and the streets sure were crawling with celebs. All the hotspots in the city played host to a variety of events well into the night.

Here is a recap of some of the hottest events of the night:

RBC Red Carpet Gallery:

Festivities kicked off at the RBC-Red Carpet Gallery event, which featured the premier of Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band, with Martin Scorsese, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.

Mongrel House at TIFF

The TIFF celebrations were in full swing all throughout the city! One of the top events that made it to the list was the launch of the 5th Annual Mongrel House at TIFF by Canadian independent film distributor, Mongrel Media. The multi-day event honours nine of their films premiering at TIFF and 25 years of curating some of the most unique and creative films of our times.

It was hosted by Mongrel Media, Sony Pictures Classics, and the Italian Trade Commission. Guests had the opportunity to make use of a Cineplex photo studio and enjoy delicacies from a variety of stalls. Some of these included a pasta station from Eataly, a butter chicken and samosa booth from Butter Chicken Roti and refreshments from FIJI Water. The drinks were on point too with cocktails from CIROC, Tanqueray Gin and Bulleit Bourbon, a Johnnie Walker bar, and coffee from Barocco. The dessert portion was taken care of with sweets from Dunk Restaurants.

Other top event partners included Volvo, The Globe and Mail, Anica, Laura Mercier, World Class Canada, Willendorf, Incredible Printing and Hoame.

Mongrel House at TIFF is expected to end with a special 25th anniversary party on its closing night on Sunday, September 8th, 2019.

RBC x OVO

TIFF celebrations began inside RBC House to mark the recent RBC x OVO and OVO Summit partnership. Guests were treated to special performances by Oliver El-Khatib, Majid Jordan, Chromatic, Vacations, Gonnie Garko, GOHomeRoger & Kid Masterpiece.

It was quite the lit scene when Majid Jordan took the stage and played crowd favourites like Body Talk and One I Want. Oliver El-Khatib’s DJ set took an exciting turn when he was joined on stage by Tyrone Edwards.

The Personal History of David Copperfield TIFF Premiere Party

The world premiere of The Personal History of David Copperfield brought together some of Hollywood’s biggest names at ICONINK’s Weslodge. The film stars Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton (Academy Award Winner), Hugh Laurie (Golden Globe Winner), Gwendoline Christie (Emmy Nominee), Peter Capaldi and Ben Whishaw and is directed by Armando Iannucci
Before the screening at the Princess of Wales Theatre, the cast including Dev Patel dressed sharply in a black suit, Hugh Laurie wearing a blazer and checkered print shirt, Aimee Kelly in a stunning white maxi gown, Morfydd Clark in a striking green silk dress, Aneurin Barnard in a red and black ensemble and Rosalind Eleazar in a stunning blue jumpsuit enjoyed specialty themed CÎROC Vodka cocktails, the Aunt Betsy and The Dickens at the modern saloon.

Castle in the Ground TIFF Premiere Party

It was quite the party that happened after the world premiere of Castle in the Ground at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Those in attendance included writer-director Joey Klein with producers William Woods and Michael Solomon. The stars of the film Alex Wolff (latte coloured suit), Neve Campbell (corseted Pblack midi dress, black stilettos and a white trench), Imogen Poots (lime green dress under a black jean jacket paired with silver loafers), Keir Gilchrist (all black outfit) and Star Slade (signature black hair and bangs) also made an appearance. They ended their evening on a high note at Weslodge along King Street West.

Menu items served included Weslodge sliders, mac and cheese, mushroom arancini, vegan butter chicken, sweet potato and lentil fritters, and coconut cream tartlets and vegan chocolate fudge bites for dessert.
