Cassava Cuisine
Have you experienced the flavours of Nigeria before? If not, you might want to check out Cassava Cuisine. Specializing in grilled meats, the restaurant serves traditional dishes found in Africa like pondu, egusi, fufu and lots more. The meats include grilled beef, goat, mackerel and chicken. They’re open Thursday to Saturday from 3 pm – 8 pm and are situated at 685 Lansdowne Ave.
Must haves: Grilled Mackerel
Spice 505
Travel to India and Nepal through classic flavours offered at Spice 505. Find an array of traditional and regional dishes from biryani and momos to kebabs and tikka. The menu also serves vegetarian options like Aloo Gobi and Paneer Tikka Masala. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am – 11 pm and no reservations are needed.
Must haves: Tandoori Momos, Butter Chicken
Matt’s Burger Lab
This burger joint is home to some of the most unique and Instagrammable burgers. They are known for what they have termed “experimental burgers” with a selection of fillings and toppings. Each burger also has creative names like Back To The Future, Quantum, DNA, Big Bang and more. Some of these also come with two or three beef patties combined with chicken, mushrooms and onion rings. They’re open Monday to Saturday from 11 am and from 12 pm on Sunday.
Must haves: Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger
Maker Pizza
Since its inception, Maker Pizza has gained recognition as one of the top pizza joints in the 6ix. The dough is handmade and fresh everyday along with a three-day aging process. The current menu offerings include over six options with red sauce and two with white sauce. They also serve wings, salads and beverages. Maker Pizza is open Monday to Friday from 11:30 am and Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 pm.
Must haves: So Mushroom, Dr. Pepperoni
Wilbur Mexicana
The Mexican restaurant serves a selection of street eats and traditional dishes. Items on the menu include tacos, burritos/bowls, quesadillas and fajitas. They also have various vegetarian options for each as well. Wilbur Mexicana is currently open for takeout via Uber Eats, DoorDash and Ritual.
Must haves: Bulgogi Beef Taco, Chicken Tinga Taco
Cluck Clucks Chicken & Waffles
Did someone say fried chicken and waffles? The halal fried chicken spot serves the iconic combination with each item made fresh everyday. You can find various options including with boneless chicken breasts, bone in thigh and three piece bone in chicken. Along with waffles, the menu also has fried chicken sandwiches. They’re open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am and on Sundays from 12:00 pm.
