Cheers to Monday, folks! For this edition of the top restaurants of the week, we’re traveling to Latin America, in particular to Venezuela. With Toronto being a melting pot of cultures, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of different spots to try out flavours of this beloved cuisine. Check out our full list of restaurants below.

Here are the top six restaurants of the week for Venezuelan cuisine:
Gordo EX Cafe
The restaurant whips up a selection of dishes with Latin American flavours, especially Venezuelan. Whether you’re going for the appetizers, mains or sides, the choice is plenty. The menu also features arepas, empanadas and beverages.
Pomarosa Coffee Shop & Kitchen
From smoothies and baked goods to ceviches and desserts, this place is sure to satisfy all your cravings for Venezuelan cuisine. There are a lot of beverages as well, including coffee, cold drinks and alcohol.
El Venezolano
When it comes to arepas, one of the spots you don’t want to miss out on is El Venezolano. The restaurant is most well-known for the many variations of the two classic dishes, which are the arepas and empanadas.
The Arepa Republic
Choose from nine different flavours of arepas from this North York spot. This also includes gluten free and veggie options. Additionally, there’s also tequeños, which are fried wheat dough rolls filled with cheese.
Bar Bacan
The restaurant pays tribute to both Argentinian and Venezuelan flavour profiles. There’s both types of empanadas, with appetizers that include yuca fries, tequeños and sweet plantain. The arepas are gluten free, and there’s main plates as well.
MAIZ
There is a range of items to pick from with the menu at MAIZ. Arepas, quesadillas, tacos, churros and a few appetizers can be found. Pair with any of their drinks options like beer, cocktails or wines.
