Here is a closer look at the 6 wine’s included in this exclusive LCBO.com Discovery Pack Offer:
Graffigna Pinot Grigio
This wine is the perfect aperitif. Pinot Grigio from Argentina receives over 300 days of sunshine a year giving the wine gorgeous floral notes with hints of white peach and stone fruit. From the aroma to the taste, this is a great expression of Pinot Grigio that can pair with just about anything. Best to open when the sun is almost setting and you’re prepping for dinner plans.
Los Cardos Sauvignon Blanc
This Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh and fruity profile and is made with 100% estate grown grapes from vineyards in the best regions of Mendoza. Both vegan and sustainably made, Los Cardos features intense notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, lime and white peach. This is a fabulous wine to serve with soft cheese like goat cheese, fish, shellfish, and sushi.
Portillo Pinot Noir
A very rare bottle for us here in Ontario, is this wonderful Portillo Pinot Noir. Lighter bodied in style, with soft red fruits and cherries, this is a wine from the premium region of the Uco Valley. The high altitude valley’s conditions are unique, and the result is fresh and delicious. This wine is another vegan option, and is made without the use of oak barrels. Pair Portillo Pinot Noir with mushroom crostini or a charcuterie board with fresh cherries on the side.
Made with vines from only the best of Mendoza’s high altitude vineyards, located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Alamos Malbec is rich and intense. Made with snowmelt water from the mountain and exposure to intense sunlight, this wine is a pleasure to taste and enjoy! The grapes are handpicked and aged in French oak (chips and staves) for six to eight months. Open this wine next to the Don David Reserve Malbec to compare side by side to find your favourite.
Don David Reserve Malbec
Don David was the key pioneer in planting quality vines in the high altitude vineyards of the Calchaqui valleys in the northern province of Salta. Located at 1800M (6000 sq. ft.) above sea level, this wine offers concentrated aromas, colour and flavours. Grapes are hand-harvested; 70% of the wine is aged in French and American oak, while 30% is aged in stainless steel and concrete. The Don David Reserve Malbec offers notes of violet, chocolate and tobacco with soft tannins, and is best served with BBQ red meats as your main course pairing. This wine was included in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year in 2018.
La Mascota Cabernet Sauvignon
Argentina makes fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon. La Mascota is hand harvested, aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. It’s elegant, with a touch of spice, full bodied and complex. With aromas of licorice, cassis and cherries, this is a wonderful wine to pair with chocolate cupcakes, after dinner treats and even fireside conversations.
