As being home to the multi-award-winning artists Drake and The Weeknd, Toronto is well-known for its rising artists. The large city has so many opportunities for creative people to gather and express their emotions and talents and with a large community to support them. In the past year, more have gotten the chance to express themselves through the new platform, TikTok. As the pandemic put the world on hold, these artists spent time sharing their creativity. Here are some of Toronto’s newest upcoming artists:

@tobias_dray

Paris-born producer/composer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist, this emerging artist, Tobias Dray, moved to Toronto and has done us proud. From TikTok fame to releasing a new music video (shown above) featuring Queen West and Spadina, Toronto LOVES him. Throughout the pandemic, like many others, Dray has learned to pivot and even began reaching out to potential vocal contributors via Spotify!

@crashadamsmusic

If you have been on TikTok, chances are you have seen these two men lugging a large red sofa around the 6ix and placing them between intersections before the light turns green. Well, this is Toronto’s favourite music duo, Crash Adams. Their unique presentation has certainly caught the attention of many fans and has helped them spread their music and laughter during these tough times.

@charlottedaywilson

If you’re into relaxing R&B music, chances are you will love this emerging singer-songwriter, Charlotte Day Wilson. While she has been making her mark in the music industry since the mid-2010s, her performance with Daniel Caeser during his Case Study 01 Tour (2019) in Toronto has caught the attention of many Torontonians. She was also featured on President Biden’s inauguration playlist!

@caleontwins

Beginning their stardom during the good old days of Music.ly, the Caleon Twins have certainly become a TikTok symbol with their comedic twin cameos. To this day, they have amassed millions of followers on TikTok and have been recognised by the city with a billboard at Dundas Square. They have made an appearance on family shows like Family Feud Canada and we hope to be seeing more of them soon.

@vivianhicksofficial

Vivian Hicks is gaining attention for her angelic and beautiful voice through TikTok and Instagram. With over a million followers on TikTok, her content consists of her doing singing challenges and having fun with her loved ones. Auditioning for American Idol back in late 2019, hopefully, Toronto will become home to another major pop-star.
