Washington D.C. is one of the best city vacations for adults and children alike. You get to experience history.

When you want to spend time indoors, visit the Smithsonian museums. You can learn about art, science, and natural history. This is a great opportunity for small children.

3. Yosemite

What if your family prefers camping vacations? Yosemite might be just the right family vacation location for you. As far as outdoor vacations go, this is a great option for anyone who loves to “rough it” while also seeing fantastic flora and fauna.

You can go horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, rafting, and so much more.

Again, it’s best to avoid Yosemite during the summer unless you’re able to plan a year in advance. It’s popular during the summer, so finding a space might be difficult.

4. Outer Banks

For beach lovers who aren’t into the idea of going to Florida, we recommend the Outer Banks in North Carolina. This coastal destination is perfect for relaxing on a budget.

There’s a great aquarium nearby on Roanoake island and there are miles of beaches for you to lay out and get some sun or get into the water. All east coasters know about this perfect beachy getaway.
