The pandemic has been undoubtedly been tough for all of us and we’re all trying to find joy anywhere we can. For some this has been through baking, reading, taking up gardening and more. But for Sean MacDonald, it’s something else: the Toronto chef makes gourmet dishes for his dog. That’s right, we’re talking meals that easily qualify as fine dining and its for MacDonald’s chocolate Lab.
Toronto Chef Sean MacDonald, ēst Restaurant
Chef MacDonald is an award-winning chef and owner of ēst restaurant, located at the East End. The restaurant is most popular for its globally-inspired Canadian cuisine and selection of unique dishes. At the time when dining out was still shut down, Chef MacDonald decided to fill up his time by getting a chocolate Lab puppy, which he named Hazelnut.
With the intention of it only being a one-time thing, he made a puppy-friendly dish, Wagyu beef with roasted bone marrow jus. However, as soon as he posted it on TikTok, it quickly went viral, garnering over 500,000 views in one night.
From there, Chef MacDonald continued to create more restaurant-worthy dishes for his pet. This includes a puppy carbonara, braised short rib and bone marrow ragout with pumpkin and many more.
Now that Chef MacDonald is back at his restaurant with dining restrictions lifted, there hasn’t been as many videos. But fans and followers should definitely continue to keep an eye on his TikTok page.
