In efforts to stand against hate everywhere, the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni will be going to London, Ontario next month. The visit comes following the hate crime in June that shook the community where a Muslim family was killed. As a part of their visit, the teams will be hosting two events in an attempt to bring people together.

The event by the Raptors is the team’s annual open practice at London’s Budweiser Gardens on October 2, 2021. As for the Leafs Alumni, members will face each other in a game on October 3, 2021. It is set to feature former members of the Maple Leafs, including Tomáš Kaberle, Darcy Tucker, Rick Vaive and many others.

In addition, MLSE and MLSE Foundation are working with the City of London and local Muslim Community Stakeholders. Their aim is to establish a legacy project in London to provide easy access to sport for the city’s youth for a better tomorrow. It will also be an infrastructure investment that’s aligned with the community’s requirement.
Both events at Budweiser Gardens will be limited to a capacity of 1,000 people. There is a minimum donation requirement of $20 for the Raptors’ open practice. The ticket for the Maple Leafs Alumni game is priced at $20. All proceeds will go towards the MLSE Foundation’s Change the Game campaign.
