Are you a BIPOC creator or artist? The Toronto Raptors and OVO are giving you the chance to showcase your talent in the field of art. The program titled, ‘Welcome Toronto Creators Program’, is an incubator that will foster artists aged between 16 and 29.
Three lucky artists will be selected, who will then be mentored, with the help of the team’s resources. The artists will each have one ‘Welcome Toronto’ game during the 2020-21 NBA regular season. Each of the games will shed a light on the artist’s story and art, under the Raptors’ new 2021 City Edition uniforms.
“In partnership with OVO, we have come together to build the Creators program, focused on spotlighting emerging BIPOC artists between the ages of 16-29.”Toronto Raptors (@Raptors) March 22, 2021
‘Welcome Toronto’ was launched in 2018, which aimed to grow the basketball culture in local communities. It was done with a partnership with OVO, as the Toronto Creators Program also looks to strength cultural innovation among the youth. The dedication to celebrate and help local artists to grow is at the forefront of their mission as well.
The Toronto Raptors‘ support for the program is visible, with the team’s 2020-21 City Edition uniforms and playing on a ‘Welcome Toronto’ black and gold home court.
Three of the games will focus on a selected creator’s work, which has been influenced by basketball culture.
