With longer days to linger outside, the warmth of the sun to keep us content, and the light cool breezes to stave off beads of sweat, Dad certainly lucked out with the celebration of his Day in June.

If you’re furrowing your eyebrows and wracking your brain for ideas, look no further than our Father’s Day Guide for ideas on how to spend time with dad…
Black Creek Pioneer Village – War Re-Enactment and RibFest
A triple threat of delights dad will relish includes explosions, guns, and food at Black Creek Pioneer Village. On June 15th and 16th, step back in time and watch the Battle of Black Creek, a revolutionary war re-enactment. After the adrenaline-rushing action, soothe dad’s nerves with a stroll through town and learn about how the citizens in the 1860s went about their daily lives; watch a musket demonstration, changing of the guard, and even how they made ice cream. When you’ve worked up an appetite after the walk, satiate both your inner carnivores with a choice of a rib or BBQ sausage luncheon, and be tipsy with delight after some beer samplings at their brewery. This will be a day filled with historical insight, action, and delicious food.
4th Annual Yorkville Exotic Car Show
For a notable cause, envelope dad with cars that exude extravagance and style. In support of Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC), a sea of luxury-line vehicles including Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lotus, and McLaren will be glimmering in the sun on the red carpet for your perusing pleasure. On the 16th of June, you and dad can be good Samaritans by donating to the PCC Foundation and attend Yorkville’s 4th Annual Exotic Car Show. Last year, $30,000 dollars were raised to spread awareness of this form of cancer, fund research, and provide treatment. The aim this year is to speed past this amount; help them attain their ambitious goal with your support and attendance.
The Beamish Classic, SPiN Toronto
A little healthy competition may be just the thing your dad craves on his special day. If this is the case, on June 16th allow him to unleash his war cries and go paddle to paddle in several round robins of The Beamish Classic, a Ping-Pong tournament not for the faint of heart. Allow him to work off that indulgent brunch and savour in all the glory when he uses his agility and quick wit to defeat his opponents and be declared the champion. Funds raised from ticket sales go towards The Remix Project – an organization whose aim is to provide more avenues of success and education in the creative arts and entertainment industries for youths who live in communities riddled with disadvantages and social exclusion. The battle here is to help equalize the playing field and give a voice to those not given a fair chance to be heard.
Beach BBQ & Brews Festival
The only requisite items needed to participate in this event are flip flops, shorts, and an empty stomach. Take a stroll along the boardwalk at Woodbine Park, listen to some catchy live tunes, go for a swim, or try your hand at beach volleyball. The City of Toronto has pulled out all the stops with a free ribfest, grilling demonstrations, craft vendors, and a beer garden. Any of dad’s stresses will melt with the camel coloured sand between the crevices of his toes and salivate at the robust smells of smoky meats and hops. With no shortage of activities and events from June 14th through 16th, The Beaches will be filled with laughter and memory-making moments to relish and relive for years to come.
