One thing to keep in mind when staying in a hotel with your pup is to make sure to tell the property before making your reservation that your fur buddy will be joining you. The hotel can then let you know what extra fees you may have to pay, and what their pet rules and restrictions are.
Nita Lake Lodge, Whistler
We love packing a bag, grabbing the pooch, and making our way up to Whistler for a weekend getaway. This location offers miles of trails, dog beaches, and parks, making it a great pup-friendly destination. One hotel that is always on the top of our list is the luxurious Nita Lake Lodge, just minutes from the heart of Whistler. As you relax in one of the gorgeous suites, your pet can lounge next to you in their very own dog bed, provided by the hotel. Also included in a “pet stay” is a dog bowl and natural, organic, house-made pup treats.
Pet Fee: A fee of $25 will be charged per night, for up to two pups.
Watermark Beach Resort, Osoyoos
One place we’ve been dying to visit is Osoyoos. Known as Canada’s “pocket desert,” this area boasts of a fabulous climate, the warmest freshwater lake in Canada, and lots for you and your dog to do, including swimming and walking the many trails. When we do visit, we’ll be staying at the Watermark Beach Resort as they “welcome pet-toting travelers with the same level of service and hospitality as would be offered to guests without pets.” Upon arrival at the Watermark, you will be provided with a pup welcome packet and vacation dog treats.
Pet Fee: $25 per night (to a maximum of $125 per stay) is charged for bringing your pup.

Hotel Grand Pacific, Victoria
We often visit Victoria as it’s a wonderful walkable city, and is easily accessible by ferry or air. And did you know that you can take your pooch on Harbour Air? Yup. Just sayin’. Recently named one of Canada’s top city hotels by prestigious US-travel magazine Travel + Leisure, the Hotel Grand Pacific is our pick for Victoria accommodations with (or without) your canine companion. When you stay in one of the hotel’s pet-friendly rooms, you will receive a plush dog bed, food and water bowls, pup treats, a disposable doggy clean-up kit, and a do-not-disturb sign to alert room attendants of your pet’s presence.
Pet Fee: A $50 non-refundable fee (for up to 7 nights) will be added to the cost of your stay (only one under-40lb. pooch per room).
Pacific Sands Beach Resort, Tofino
This summer, Tofino is the place we’ll be headed with our pups. The Pacific Sands Beach Resort is one of the most dog-friendly hotels in BC: furry family members receive dog dishes, treats, and pet towels on arrival; there are pet wash stations for an easy, post-beach rinse; biodegradable doggy bags and disposal containers are also available. After checking in from the 3-hour breathtaking drive (from Nanaimo), enjoy a long walk on Long Beach, check out the Rain Forest Trail, and explore the charming village of Tofino.
Pet Fee: A $200 damage deposit will be taken upon check-in and a one-time charge of $40 per pup will be charged to your guest account.
