Renowned design talent and celebrity design-minded speakers alike are set to converge at this year’s Vancouver Home + Design Show. With noteworthy names like Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan (of Cottage Life TV’s Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure) and Leigh-Ann Perrault (regular guest expert on Cityline) to name just a few, you definitely don’t want to miss your chance to peruse the more than 325 local and national vendors on-hand for a little home-bound inspiration just in time for fall/winter.

Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer: Reloaded
Check out and vote for one of three up-and-coming, Vancouver-based interior designers who will go head-to-head in the ultimate micro-management exercise. They’ll each be tasked with designing a 150-square-foot dual-function space with $5,000 worth of Urban Barn furniture and accessories for display.

Head here and learn all about getting the most of even the tiniest spaces courtesy of BC’s top purveyor of chic self-assembly sheds, EZ Log Structures. Check out the display of three 100-square-foot shelters (created by Friendly Decorator) and learn how to make the most of your outdoor space all year – something we west coasters know all about.
Ultimate Upcycle Challenge 3: ChairLIFT
Last year saw the introduction of the Ultimate Upcycle Challenge. Well it was a hit, and it’s back. This year’s challenge is titled “ChairLIFT” and features a collection of pre-loved chairs upcycled by local media personalities, designers and tastemakers using only Rust-Oleum products and a $50 design budget.
Samsung Cooking Challenge: Tag Team Kitchen
We’re not sure about you, but we love us a home cooking challenge! Don’t miss your opportunity to catch three home cooks who’ll be partnering up with a top Vancouver chef for a culinary competition. Participants will be armed and dangerous in the kitchen with Samsung’s Chef Collection appliances, fresh ingredients, and plenty of ambition. The dueling duos will compete for the winning title as they take turns behind the burner to create the perfect entrée and dessert. They’ll be judged by a bevy of local celebs, with the last home cook standing scoring $5,000 worth of Samsung Chef Collection appliances for their own kitchen.

BC Hydro Power Smart Pad
This display pad is always a hit at the Vancouver Home + Design Show each year. This year’s space features decorating by Jennifer Scott from A Good Chick To Know and features a cool sense of style with electricity conservation to create the ultimate (mindful) urban dwelling. Score plenty of tips on how to shrink your home’s energy use and stay chic with the flick of a switch (well, pretty much).
