It’s that time of year again to duck out of the office early (we dare you), revel in the sunshine, and entice in the possibility of catching happy hour drinks and bites at your local watering hole. We’ve recently scouted the best happy hour spots in your ‘hood that offer some great weekday deals for you that will leave you scurrying out of the office early in the afternoon for that important “doctor’s appointment”…
Hapa Izakaya
Coal Harbour, Kitsilano, Downtown and Yaletown
Indulge in the ultimate Hapa Hour at any of the four Hapa Izakaya locations, offering oodles of discounted menu items (all at prices that are less than $5 a plate). Some of our faves include the tuna avocado salsa dip (Kits), the lightly seared beef tataki (Robson), seasoned polenta fries (Coal Harbour), and the Kiniko fried rice (Yaletown). The Hapa Hour menus are endless and well worth the early afternoon exit from the office.
Keep in mind that each location is considerably different – from their menu to their overall vibe and energy and their Hapa Hour times. Coal Harbour Hapa Hour runs from 3pm to 5:30pm weekdays, with a beautiful view; the Yaletown location is from 5pm to 6pm every day for the business casual; Kits is from 4pm to 5pm every day for anyone seeking a laidback, friendly atmosphere; and Hapa Hour at the buzzing Robson location runs from 5:30pm to 6:30pm daily.

You can also find some endearing daily deals, such as $2 off mojitos on Mondays, or highballs at a low $4 on thirsty Thursdays. Great energy, decent service, and a prime location will leave you a mucho satisfied customer.
Merchant’s Oyster Bar
East Vancouver
A little neighbourhood nook nestled in the heart of Commercial Drive is home to Merchant’s Oyster Bar. No matter the day, fresh local oysters are shucked with care at $1.50/each from 5pm to 6pm. The food and drinks are exceptional, the staff is warm and inviting, and the space is soaked in ambiance. We highly recommend hitting up Merchant’s for some oysters and wine after work, then strolling down Commercial Drive – a perfect little evening.
