Spring weather is well underway here on the West Coast, so the idea of sprucing ourselves up definitely felt appropriate this past weekend when we opted to check out one of the city’s chicest spas for some rest and relaxation.
We made our way over to Miraj Hammam Spa on the west side of the Vancouver and got sucked into a vortex of relaxation we didn’t want to leave. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to an authentic Turkish bath, boasting a myriad of treatment options to help you while away an afternoon… which is exactly what we did. Consistently ranked as one of the top spas throughout North America (and ranked one of the top spas in Vancouver), Miraj Hammam Spa lives up to its reputation.
First off, lets talk about the design and décor of the place. They’ve tastefully outfitted each room with ornate carvings and artwork that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Moroccan oasis, complete with scented candles and the gentle lull of music. After you’ve completed the obligatory paperwork, you’re given a sarong and pair of slippers and left to relax prior to treatment in their eucalyptus steam room.
We recommend you go for a full-body gommage (exfoliation) experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and purified (thanks to the application of a deep-cleansing seaweed masque). The treatment is made extra special with the use of an authentic black Moroccan soap that leaves skin feeling tingly and clean. Follow this up with a deep tissue massage that you’ll wish lasted longer than the 15 minutes, top it off with a facial, and you’re set.
Once you’re done, you’ll be led to the spa’s Sultana Lounge where you can kick back and let the buzz wear off for a bit (and sip Middle Eastern tea and sweet treats).
Miraj Hammam Spa is located at 1495 W.6th Avenue. Learn more or book an appointment to see what all the fuss is about online.
