The Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown is going coast-to-coast with the nation’s fishiest food competition. The Chowder Chowdown happens across the country, pitting the best local chefs in a battle for the town’s best chowder, judged by some the city’s most respected foodies. Held in support of Ocean Wise, manager Ann-Marie Copping says the event, “is a fun and delicious way to recruit guests, and their taste buds, to the sustainable seafood movement.” After all, who doesn’t want more chowder?
And chowder is what guests will receive: 13 chowders prepared for stiff competition, paired with the finest craft beers they can find. But don’t think that only the judges have a say; every guest can also cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award for best Chowder, so be prepared for the best your town can offer, thirteen times over!
The Chowder Chowdown has quite the line-up in both Vancouver and Toronto, guaranteed to hook any seafood lovin’ scallywag. Vancouverites will enjoy submissions by famous chefs like the Fairmont Waterfront’s Dana Hauser on November 20th at the Vancouver Aquarium. For Torontonians, look forward to the Royal York’s own Joshua Dyer on November 19th at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery Historic District. But don’t sit dead in the water, at only $50 a pop, tickets sell out fast!
