St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are all but upon us in Vancouver, with CelticFest in full swing venues are gearing up for a huge party come the weekend and we’ve got the scoop on the top spots to head to in search of emerald-hued beer…
Doolin’s Irish Pub
Doolin’s Irish Pub is a great spot to head to for a bit of grub and green brewed goodness. Head to Doolin’s over the weekend and catch some live music; they’ve got daily entertainment as part of the ongoing festival (catch Slo Gin Sideshow on Friday and Cooper Sky Duo on Saturday, and be sure to head to their post-parade for a full day of festivities). Bonus: this coming Monday, they’ll be open starting at 10am to ensure you get your St. Patrick’s Day party fix.

The Blarney Stone
These guys are definitely high on our list when it comes to finding a St. Paddy’s Day venue with a decidedly authentic Irish attitude. Located in the heart of Gastown, they always throw a huge party in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day complete with green beer, Irish music, dancing and a menu loaded with authentic Irish fixings. Tickets are already going fast for this weekend’s soiree (at $10 a pop) so don’t delay. Learn more here.
Ceili’s Irish Pub
Ceili’s is another popular spot (now with two locations in YVR) and garners a great crew of partygoers for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. As part of this year’s CelticFest, head to Ceili’s for their ‘Ceili’s Kitchen Party’ this Thursday at their Granville Street location. The Paperboys’ Tom Landa, fiddler Kalissa Hernandes and other Celtic musicians promise an evening fueled by raucous fun.
Mahony and Sons
Another great place to head for a few pints and excellent food is definitely Mahony and Sons. With several locations (and one more in the mix), they have the authentic Irish look and feel nailed down. We love the oceanfront vantage point offered at their Coal Harbour address – but still recommend a trek out to their UBC pub where they’ve got a party planned for the big day.
