It’s official: winter weather is upon us and with it comes plenty of grey days filled with drizzle. It’s pretty easy to go from slogging it out at the office during the week only to find yourself uninspired (and firmly planted on the couch) in time for the weekend.
Why not trade in the remote in favour of a little Sunshine Coast–inspired R&R instead? Get ready to dust off the hiking boots and grab your gear for a few days away exploring this easily-accessed coastal adventure destination.

What
The Sunshine Coast’s Gibsons Landing. It’s called the Sunshine Coast for a reason, they get plenty of just that: sun (even during winter). So, head here if you are in need of a vitamin D fix and score yourself a chilled out weekend as a result.
Though it’s actually part of the mainland, you need to take a 40-minute ferry ride to access the region that lies adjacent to the sea-to-sky area separated by Howe Sound.
Do
While there be sure to check out historic Molly’s Reach (home to the CBC’s Beachcombers show), make your way to Mount Elphinstone for some hiking, scour the beaches for aquatic treasures, grab a kayak (even at this time of year), and have fun exploring the area’s countless coves.
