Well, its official – we’re into October and with that the leaves are already starting to change. With the seasonal shift comes an array of events, openings, and ways to get out and explore our city. This weekend, we’ve got a nice little handful of things guaranteed to help pack your days, so get ready.
Harvest Haus
Hit up Harvest Haus this weekend and party alongside 1,000 other revellers looking to swig imported craft beer from stylish steins. Though some of the evenings are already sold out, you may be lucky enough to score a spot at the party during one of their afternoon seatings or at Sunday brunch. No doubt you’ll have a blast sampling from an endless offering of bratwurst, German sausage, pretzels, and Bavarian confections as you take in the boisterous scene.
twelveWEST
There’s a new nightclub in town that we’re pretty sure you’ll want to head to come the weekend. Owned by the folks behind the ever-popular Pierre’s Champagne Lounge in Yaletown, twelveWEST is set to officially open its doors tonight on Granville Street (taking over the digs once occupied by Ginger62). They’ve done an extensive gutting of the place to reveal a sweet and sexy new room complete with VIP service, an amazing lineup of DJs and more.
The Barn Fall Antique Show
If you’re looking to spruce up your space this season, take advantage of a sunny Saturday and plan an antiquing road trip to The Barn Fall Antique Show. Unleash your inner designer and score some incredible finds courtesy of hundreds of dealers. Find funky folk art, antique signage, lighting, and furnishings. Also, be sure to bring that mystery piece you’ve hoarded all these years for an assessment.
Doors Open Vancouver
The first annual Doors Open Vancouver (DOV) is taking place this Sunday and is the perfect excuse to get your butt off the couch for a little YVR adventuring. This free public event invites you to explore the city, scoring a behind-the-scenes look at many of its culturally diverse, architecturally-rich places. Check out 20 historic buildings, see what goes on behind closed doors, and grow your brain a bit.
Hot Art Wet City
Hit up Hot Art Wet City’s latest art party ‘Boobies & Wieners’ that kicks off this Friday at their studio (2206 Main Street). It’s a huge group art show featuring new works from local artists and over-the-top nude pieces that are all about in-your-face crass and examples of artistic expression.
