This weekend there’s a nicely packed list of options for those of you still searching for things to fill up the days ahead. Check out one of several music festivals, grab your gear and make your way out for a bit of boisterous biking, or try one of several new spots that have just opened for a refreshing cocktail and bite. We’ve rounded up our top picks below…
Vancouver Folk Festival
We wrote about the Vancouver Folk Festival earlier this week, so make a plan to head over to Kitsilano’s Jericho Beach for an afternoon of music, great eats, and plenty of other entertainment this weekend. What’s not to love? With its laidback vibe and North Shore mountains as a backdrop, it doesn’t get much more west coast than this. Need details on the 60+ different bands taking to the stage? Check out our rundown here.
Pemberton Valley Music Festival
Pemberton Valley Music Festival is on and brings with it plenty of reasons to head up to the picturesque town just north of Whistler for the weekend. Check out Snoop himself as he takes the stage with NIN, Outkast, Flaming Lips, the comedic talent of Bob Saget, plus more. Ditch the car, grab your camping gear, and head in via shuttle.
Summer Series Dance Party
Also taking place this weekend (on Saturday) is the next instalment of the Summer Series Dance Party. Hosted by VUSI, a non-profit organization that’s committed to making adventurous use of city space, the Special Summer Series is moving onto dance party number two (of five). This round’s destination is the newly revamped New West Pier. It’ll include plenty of music courtesy of DJs, dancing, and discrete drinking. Things heat up starting at 1pm and go to 9pm.
Lucha Libre 6
Celebrate Vancouver’s spicy Latino flavour and be sure to grab your two-wheeler and join in on the fun at Saturday’s Lucha Libre 6. Here’s the scoop: Join hundreds of other pedal partygoers at ‘El Crab Parko’ (Crab Park) for the 6th Annual year of masked Mexi-Canadian “bikeling” debauchery. They’ll have plenty of on-site music, food trucks, and more. Score yourself an authentic Mexican mask and cape, and check out the details here.
Boulevard Kitchen + Oyster Bar
Be sure to cool off with a cocktail and knock back a few oysters at the newly opened Boulevard Kitchen + Oyster Bar that has finally unlocked its doors at Vancouver’s Sutton Place Hotel. Led by Executive Chef Alex Chen, Boulevard offers up an exciting new take on cuisine with a playful approach to dishes in a stunningly elegant atmosphere.
