Don’t let people tell you your 30s will be the best time of your life in a tone that suggests your looks will fade so you better find inner peace. Vicki’s Pick is a weekly beauty column that features Vicki’s all-time favourite beauty products and latest discoveries for women in their 30s who plan on staying pretty on the outside for a long, long time. Inner peace is optional.
I got a lovely new follower on Twitter last week: fashion photographer and NOH8 Campaign co-founder Adam Bouska. Though I wasn’t an early adopter of Twitter, I’m now obsessed with how it connects me to some of the most interesting and innovative game-changers, activists, and artists in the world today, often just through a simple follow. In honour of World Pride here in Toronto, an event that drew thousands of folks from around the world (including LA-based Bouska), I decided to rock the NOH8 logo as one of my go-to beauty looks for the weekend.
To keep my look impossibly Pride-worthy, I used MAC Cosmetics Penultimate Eye Liner in deep carbon black. The pen-like feel of the liner combined with its felt-like tip makes it easy to draw lines precisely. It goes on evenly as a marker would, without smudging. Obviously, MAC products have stood the test of long nights on the dancefloor at many a Pride Week past, so I had faith from the get-go that drawing a huge NOH8 logo on my face wouldn’t turn into a sloppy ying-yang by the end of the night. I wore the eye liner on my eyes too, which looked great, but the real beauty statement was all logo.
