Who Can I Talk to About My Anxiety?

  • VIBE Team
  • June 15, 2021
  • 4 minute read
anxiety - unsplash

We’re living in a modern world. Everything is available to us and life has never been easier. Yet, each of us has experienced our own struggle with anxiety. Why is that? If we have everything, why do we feel anxious and experience panic attacks?

Anxiety is a consequence of the hectic pace of our lives. We’re being exposed to bigger and bigger challenges. Aiming for perfection, we are exposed to vast amounts of stress. Life is faster than ever and mental breakdowns, unfortunately, are slowly becoming a rule, rather than an exception.

Anxiety is a feeling of overwhelming uneasiness. When it appears frequently, it becomes too heavy to bear. Just like any other illness, it needs to be treated.

For many years all mental health problems were taboo. People were afraid to talk about that, scared of being labeled and excluded from the community. It was a totally wrong approach. Hopefully, those days are behind us. Anxiety is being treated just like any other illness. Many anxiety specialists in Dubai are providing full care for anxiety.

2020 was tough. A global pandemic, combined with lockdowns and mass layoffs, and uncertainty, made a huge impact on people worldwide. The psychological consequences of the pandemic are massive. People are dealing with depression and anxiety and, from this point of view, even larger consequences will be visible in years to come.

If you are one of them, don’t wait! Ask for help. Recognizing it and admitting to yourself that you have issues is a critical step. If you don’t help yourself, no one will. Don’t hesitate, contact experts, tell them what bothers you and they will lead you through it.

Recognizing anxiety isn’t always easy. Yet, just like with any other illness, the timely reaction is everything. If you recognize any of the following signs, you should contact professionals.

Sleep Disturbance

Sleep disturbance is one of the main anxiety indicators. People affected by too much stress often suffer from it. It is harmless if it occurs in a shorter period, but if it lasts for a longer time, it is a silent killer that destroys the immune system.

People who suffer from sleep disturbance:

  • Struggling from insomnia during the night;
  • Have sudden attacks of fatigue during daytime;
  • Have a strong urge to take a nap during the day;
  • Moonwalking or talking while asleep.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may need to contact someone for help. Don’t be afraid to do it. Doctors will know how to help you.

Restlessness

Restlessness is a disorder that urges people to constant movement and hyperactivity. Even extremely tired people can’t get rest and clear their minds. It causes irritability and nervous disorders.

If your restlessness lasts for a longer period, it may cause serious hormonal disorders. In such cases, you should ask for help. Take it seriously and don’t drag it out. The longer you wait, the bigger problem you’re creating.

The worst option is to take sleeping, or any other relaxing pills without consulting your therapist. Sleeping pills may cause you to feel relaxed and take you into a deep sleep, but it’s not the natural state of your mind and it will make things even worse.

Muscle Tension

Muscle tension is one of the main indicators of anxiety. It is a state where you find it difficult to relax and control your movements, even after resting.

Muscle tension is often followed by:

  1. Cramps and stomach pain
  2. Increased blood pressure
  3. Rapid heart rate

Muscle stiffness usually comes along with panic attacks. Simply, you’re aware that something is going on, but at the beginning, you don’t know what causes it. It’s extremely important to recognize it timely. Otherwise, it may cause serious cardiovascular issues.

You need to understand the source of your tension. That’s the only way to cure it. Talking to a professional may solve your problems. Fast life pace causes a lot of stress, which is the main trigger for tension and anxiety.

Difficulty Concentrating

If you can’t keep your thoughts straight and if it’s the rule rather than the exception, you need to think about your mental health. Many people don’t take it seriously, considering it as a temporary issue, but it’s not true. Lack of concentration may cause you serious issues.

Your brain receives too much information daily, the pace of life pushes you to move forward and you don’t have a single moment to stop and save some time for yourself. You need to recognize that issue and help yourself.

Conclusion

Timely anxiety identification is critical. Visiting a psychiatrist isn’t taboo, it’s a necessity of a modern time. Do it, before it’s too late. . You need to help yourself. If you don’t do it, no one will.
