Summer are you here? I think you just may be… finally! Yay! ‘Cause that means it’s time for patios, cocktails, BBQs and all the fun stuff that goes along with sunshine and heat. Yesterday I had a dear old friend visit from Australia. I treated myself and took the afternoon off to have her and a couple of other friends over for sangria and nibbles on my beautiful terrace that has not been used much this year. Who doesn’t love a good sangria on a beautiful afternoon?
I remember my days in the restaurant business when making sangria was my expertise and our guests specifically asked for my sangria (yes, I am tooting my own horn). Since then, I haven’t made it much ’cause wine is my thing and a lot less work… However, last week I received a lovely sangria package from Solaz wine and I decided to put to use yesterday. Verdict? Girls loved it. However, I did not follow the exact recipe they sent… I added a few Miss Nicki twists…
Here is my recipe – try it over the weekend!
Ingredients
1 bottle of Solaz Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 oz. of Duff Gordon Brandy, 2 oz. Cinzano Sweet Red Vermouth (I usually use Peach Schnapps but this was a nice change), ½ cup pineapple juice, 1 cup of fruit punch, ½ cup ginger ale, strawberries, blueberries, orange slices, lemon slices, lime slices
Directions
Mix it all up and serve over ice. Cheers!
