After completing the Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Training Program in 1996, Métis entrepreneur, Sean McCormick created a business plan for an Indigenous footwear brand. In 1997, Manitobah was born. The brand prides itself in creating authentic Indigenous-designed products in which profits go back to supporting Indigenous communities. Fast forward to 2022, Nordstrom now carries Manitobah’s latest women’s shoe collection.
You can find this exclusive style at Nordstrom:
Nordstrom’s selection of women’s styles from their latest collection, include waterproof and water-resistant winter boots with shearling footbeds and supportive rubber soles. One style that is exclusively available at Nordstrom is the Reflections Boot in colours Charcoal and Oak. The boot is designed by Apsaalooké artist, Elias Not Afraid, who created a traditional Mukluk design that features practical elements as well. Mukluks are soft boots often made out of hide. These boots were created by Indigenous people to help them navigate natural environments and warmth.
The sole and banding details of the Reflections boot symbolize the duality of reflecting on the past while celebrating the future. This boot is also made out of water-resistant suede and shearling lining.
