Looking for a new pub to call your home away from home? Here’s why you need to claim a stool at An Sibin Pub in Riverside…
It’s really, really Irish
An Sibin Pub had us at “14 craft beers on tap.” Sure, there are a lot of pubs that claim to be Irish in Toronto, but An Sibin is the Real McCoy. Not only does the pub source its foods for the menu from Ireland, including organic salmon, you can also have one of 25 Irish whiskeys from the drink menu, as well as another 29 Canadian whiskeys, if something more local suits your fancy.
It’s got a “where everybody knows your name” vibe
Regulars of An Sibin refer to the pub affectionately by its nickname “The Shebeen,” which means “an illegal, illicit drinking establishment,” which comes from Ireland’s historic after-hour speakeasys. To sound like a regular, keep in mind that it’s pronounced “Ahn-She-Been.” Then it’ll be just a matter of time before everyone at the establishment knows you by your name, too.
There is mood-setting live music
Every Thursday night, there’s live Ceol (Gaelic for Music) from 8pm onward at An Sibin, and it starts all over again on Friday and Saturday nights at 10pm. Sundays a slightly tamer affair (or should we say “more Monday morning conscious”) with live Irish music running from 4:30pm to 8pm.
