Need an escape? ViewtheVIBE’s Ryan Miller scrummaged through Airbnb to find the best getaways in Ontario, so you don’t have to!
Over the weekend, my girlfriend and I were talking to a group of friends about getting way during the long weekend. Long weekends in Ontario are meant to be spent at the cottage. But what if you and your friends don’t have one? Or you have one but it’s not available to use? Check out Airbnb, of course! Maybe it’s a weekend for 2 with the bae, a couples or family retreat, or just a weekend with the boys or girls. Regardless, there are tons of amazing properties to rent!

Muskoka getaway
Of course, I had to start this list off with a bang! Or better yet, a crunch. This lakeside Muskoka mansion is owned by Maple Leafs legend, Wendel Clark. That’s right, Captain Crunch himself will be your Airbnb host. This mecca of Muskoka fetches close to $5000 a night. Don’t think it’s worth it? Check out pics. The cottage sleeps 15 and has all the amenities you’d expect, plus more.
Unique Floating Water Paradise
With access to peaceful hiking paths, a rooftop patio deck, fishing, paragliding, kiteboarding, paddle boarding, and more, it’s hard to believe that these floating homes are just 20 minutes away from downtown Toronto. Forget about weekend traffic and escape the city without even leaving! The gated neighbourhood is located at the bottom of the Scarborough Bluffs escarpment and in the summer, there’s a pub, restaurant and snack bar to enjoy at the marina.
Cruiser Lake Luxury Cottage
Need comfort and luxury in your life? Check out this amazing 4 season vacation property, located on Cruiser lake near Halliburton. A floating dock, a pool table, massive lake-view area windows, a wrap around deck, and bbq area make for a cushy cottage experience. Enjoy the lake or go for a hike through Halliburton Forest.
A Family Retreat in the North
Winter? Summer? Either way, this place is perfect for any kind of fam-jam you’re looking to have. This cozy cottage is located right at the end of Little Esson lake, sleeps 10 and is secluded so you can have your much deserved privacy! With six bedrooms, three fireplaces and access to the lake, it is the perfect mix of the classic all-wood cabin feel with high-end finishes and appliances.

The Painted Oasis
This newly redesigned 1950s cottage is just steps away from Georgian Bay and the beach in Wasaga, plus it’s totally Instagram-worthy (can you say girl’s weekend?). Best yet, this property is just 15-20 minutes away from downtown Collingwood and Blue Mountain, for those cottagers that still like a taste of city living.

Charming Charles 10
This luxury cottage is what dreams are made of. A private beach, fire pit, high-end kitchen, and rooms that sleep 12, all located within a protected environmental area – are you kidding me? Two master bedrooms with views of the lake and the stars, it keeps getting better. This spot is perfect for 2 families or one large clan!
Stunning Modern Beach House with Pool
Just a quick sandy walk and you’re at the beach, but if that’s not your thing, it’s all good. This beach house also has a pool! Whispering River Studio Retreat
Living by a whispering river in a cozy studio cottage with your one true love – I think that’s pretty much the definition of peace and serenity (at least to me). This secluded cabin in Parry Sound is perfect for a relaxing, romantic weekend getaway.
Tree House in the Woods
Do you want a one of a kind experience that you’ll be raving about for years? This adult treehouse is next level awesome! Like, by the true definition of the word – awe inspiring. Hammocks, slides, and a pool makes for a super chill weekend getaway. The interior is definitely Pinterest-worthy with flawless use of modern country rustic. This property is a prime example as to why Airbnb is so dope!
Luxury Retreat on Lake Muskoka
When people say Muskoka has become The Hamptons of the North, it’s really not such a wild claim – especially when you check out this property. Treadmills, a boat house, a massive wraparound deck, panoramic views, floating docks, big screen TVs, pool tables, a chef’s kitchen – the list goes on when it comes to amenities. The only thing is, it’s definitely not suited for parties as the lake has a noise curfew. Otherwise, this place is crazy!

Modern Marvel on Sparrow Lake
This one if definitely for a more mature crowd. This predominately glass “cottage” is an architectural dream – it was even featured on Cottage Life TV and in the magazine, Canadian Interiors . Located on Sparrow Lake, this modern marvel is better suited for weekend escapes from the kids and with some friends. A gorgeous BBQ, patio, and hammocks make for the perfect adult experience.
Tranquil Waterfront Cabin
A cabin is just what you need for a romantic getaway. This property is quiet enough to have a serene vacation but close enough to a town for you to enjoy some local activities. The lake is perfect for fishing, swimming, and kayaking and according to reviews, there are some great paths for cycling. The private deck also gives you a perfect view of the sunset on the lake but if you feel like beachin’ it, Sand Banks Provincial Park is nearby.
Nokora Farm Lake Cottages
Located by Port Dalhousie, the Nokora Farm Lake cottages are definitely one of the more unique properties with a collection of cottages located between Lake Ontario and a farm (hence the name). While not immediately known as cottage country, the Niagara area has more to offer than just waterfalls.
