5 Places to Pick Up in Toronto This Summer

Being single in the summer is all well and good, but if you’re looking for some good, good, lovin, ’tis the season. With everyone seemingly out of hibernation and the days and nights ending as late as can be, we here at View the Vibe understand the need and want to bask in the summer sun with a plus one by your pretty, little side.

Here are 5 hot spots in Toronto to land a date that you won’t be scared to show off to your friends come morning.

The Patio
Apres work drinks are what summer nights are made of. Whether hitting a patio with a gaggle of girls, or heading there with some work associates, the patio is but the easiest, most laid back place to pick up. One of our fave patios to do just that? Why Gusto 101, of course. Outside the Financial District, you won’t find stuffy banker folks, but instead will be confronted with those in more creative and artsy type industries.

The Resto
The problem with finding your ‘catch of the day’ at a resto is the spaced out seating and, at times, uptight environment. That’s why we’re all over the fun and playfulness that is Playa Cabana, Playa Cantina and Playa Hacienda. All run by the same owners, the city’s staple authentic restaurants bring out a crowd of hip and in-the-know twenty and thirtysomethings who appreciate a good margarita, great food and a fantastic vibe that’s next to none. The music (and massive selection of tequila) will help quell your fears and will soften the blow even if you get rejected.

The Bar
Have a lust for the nightlife and can’t seem to get out of the office before 9pm? Have no fear. We’re suckers for our teeny-tiny home away from home up in Rosedale, Le Petit Castor. Though some nights are hit in miss, when this place is good, it’s really good. Grab a drink at the bar, and make sure to squeeze your way into the back where you’ll be sure to find your pick of the prize. Best night of the week: Thursdays. Oh, and if you’re trying to get the attention of a little lady, might we suggest ordering her a ‘Pink Panther’? Their signature drink is rumoured to make even the tamest of the tame have the night of their lives. You’re welcome.

The Event
Want to hit a homerun, or at least get to first base? Why not grab some cheap, last minute tickets to a Jays game with some buddies? With thousands of people present at any given time, you’re certain to find someone just right for you. Whether chatting to those sitting in your vicinity, or talking shop while in line for beers, there are many opportunities in this nest of love, if you will.

The Day Spot
Not a drinker? More of a chill type? Toronto is home to many a cute and quirky cafes, many of which house regulars. Why not hit up one of our faves, Ezra’s Pound (either location will do), and ask one of the laid-back customers what book they’re reading, what they suggest you order, or what they’re working on in their notebook? We love not only the vibe of this place, but the people who hang around it as well.
