If you’ve not already heard, this weekend marks the return of Wanderlust to Whistler, now in its second year. We’re taking off later in the week to head up to check it out and expect to perfect our downward dog, pigeon pose, and warrior two in no time.
This four-day festival is packed with seminars, expeditions, and events of all kinds – be it yoga, meditative, self-discovery, concerts, a wine or beer tasting, or a group hike through the mountain trails. Wanderlust Whistler brings it all to the proverbial table and we’ve highlighted a few suggested activities to help you maximize your time at the festival and come away feeling as calm, cool, and collected as ever…
First off, if you haven’t already booked a condo rental or hotel room, fear not. There are loads of deals to be found here. Coming up with a crew of fellow yogis? No problem, either – check out Whistler Platinum’s site for additional finds. Or, get close to nature and dust off the camping gear and reserve yourself a spot at Whistler’s Riverside Resort instead. They’ve got RV spots (for those who want all the comforts), walk-in tent sites, and even Yurts to keep you warm and dry over the weekend.
After you’ve checked in at Wanderlust HQ and secured your Sage, Seeker, or Pilgrim pass, it’s time to unroll your mat and get into the seriously chilled out vibe…
In between catching a power, yin, or hatha class, be sure to register yourself for some of the additional expeditions presented by Wanderlust Whistler. We’re talking Standup Paddleboard Yoga ($50 extra), a day at the bike park learning the rules of the trails ($119), a rafting adventure, Zipline tour ($134), or running clinic through the network of back-country trails.
Having worked up an appetite, nab tickets to several additional, socially minded events at the festival like the Farm to Table Dinner for a chef-crafted meal sourced from fresh, seasonal local ingredients. You might also want to attend Friday or Saturday evening’s Winederlust featuring the best beer and wines of BC. (Learn more about these events and purchase tickets here.)
Throughout the festival, there will be plenty of live music to take in – be it as part of a yoga class, individual pop-up concert, or at the Wanderlust Spectacular. Wanderlust is known for its fusion of different artists and features popular names such as DJ Drez, The Soul Rebels, Emancipator, MC Yogi, and more.
Be sure to squeeze in a bit of time to attend one of Wanderlust Whistler’s Speakeasy sessions for some additional enlightenment. We’ve got our eye on Miki Agrawal’s Do Cool Sh*t session and Sean Aiken’s What Makes You Come Alive.
