Alx Veliz celebrated his birthday in the best possible way: by announcing a new single. Slated to drop next Friday, June 2, “Marquesina” is Veliz’s first release since he dropped “Boom Bye Bye” in 2019, and could certainly become the city’s summer anthem. The upbeat, Spanish track is now officially available to pre-save across all music streaming platforms.
About Alx Veliz
The Brampton-born musician and proud Torontonian made waves with his 2015 debut single “Dancing Kizomba,” which was recorded in both English and Spanish. The track blew up across the globe, going viral overnight and garnering over 35 million streams on Spotify alone and inspiring multiple remixes, including a version with Don Omar. It achieved both Gold and Platinum status.
Since then, Veliz has released a flurry of upbeat Spanish, synth-driven pop tracks that are sure to make anyone get up and dance.

Veliz, born Max Alexander Bernard, is of Jamaican and Guatemalan descent, and his Canadian-Latin upbringing influences a lot of his music today. “Alx Veliz is an artist whose emergence comes at a great time in music – a time when dancing rules, cultures embrace, and optimism rides high,” reads a Brampton press release.
He’s also the host of Rebelz and Saintz podcast, as well as the Rebolu Show, which is described as being recorded in “Spanglish.” He’s released one studio album, Love Has No Language, which dropped on April 22, 2016.
“Marquesina” will officially be released on streaming services everywhere on June 2.
