Gamers, rejoice! Whether you’re an Xbox junkie or your prefer your PlayStations, we’ve got a list of the most anticipated video games for every platform this season!
Destiny, September 9
Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
Destiny was certainly one of the most hyped releases this year, which is why I added it to the list knowing this publishes after the fact. Developed by the creators of Halo (Bungie), the game offers players a first-person shooter online persistent world game. The world around the players evolves naturally in an unscripted fashion, and Bungie is promising to constantly evolve and build the game further. Having made $325M in its first five days, Destiny had a massive $1.5B budget behind it, meaning there is still a large gap to fill – but it did take the record for biggest new IP in gaming history.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, September 30
PC, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
The latest from the Lord of the Rings universe is Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, a game that promises a darker look at the world of the LOTR realm. The events of the game span the time between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, and the game is in an action RPG style. The open world, distinct skill tree, and player abilities are touted as major features.
Alien Isolation, October 7
PC, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
Fifteen years after Alien, Amanda Ripley is investigating her mother’s disappearance. The game is designed as a first person survival stealth game that sits firmly in the horror genre. It is a game we can surely expect to pop-up on Pewdiepie’s channel.
Just Dance 2015, October 21
Wii U, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
Just Dance has been a staple game for several years now, and the 2015 iteration proves that if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. The same dance style modes from previous versions remain, but they have added something called “Community Remix” where players will see other players on the screen instead of the dancer avatars. Some of the songs include Katy Perry’s “Birthday,” Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” and Ylvis’ “What Does the Fox Say?”
Evolve, October 21
PC, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
Built by the same people who developed Left 4 Dead, Evolve is a co-op shooter that will see four player-controlled hunters taking on an alien Monster, which is controlled by a fifth player. Hunters consist of four players (Medic, Trapper, Support, Assault), while the Monster will have the ability to evolve and become more powerful over time.

Civilization: Beyond Earth, October 24
PC, Mac, Linux
A spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, Civilization: Beyond Earth is the next turn-based strategy 4X game under the Sid Meier’s title. The game takes place roughly 200 to 300 years in the future, with empire building, city progression, and passage of time. Unique to the game will be a system that takes into account your actions early on to affect gameplay later.
Call of Duty, Advanced Warfare, November 4
PC, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
First person shooter Call of Duty has become a household name, and Advanced Warfare continues in that line. Instead of the standard HUD, game information is relayed via holoprojector from the gun equipped. Gameplay will be similar to years past, with differences in guns, some mechanics, and, naturally, storyline. Speaking of, Kevin Spacey plays Jonathan Irons, the CEO of Atlas and promoter of global democracy. Maybe a House of Cards Easter egg in there…?
The Crew, November 11
PC, Xbox One, PS4
A brand new racing game, The Crew offers players an open world environment of the entire United States. You can literally drive from downtown New York to downtown LA. Granted, it will only take you about 90 minutes to do so – but the fact that it exists is pretty cool. Make sure your internet is solid though; that is one of the ways they ensure there are no loading screens or game pauses.
Far Cry 4, November 18
PC, Xbox 360 + One, PS3 + PS4
The fourth installment of the popular series of action-adventure first person shooters will follow the story of Ajay Ghale as he becomes caught in a civil war, and naturally has to fight his way out. Of course, it is an open world of lush terrain (of which leopards, rhinos, and other creatures will certainly cause you problems) and dozens of weapons to choose from.
