Serving Up Mediterranean Mezza with a Flavourful Twist
Azkadenya (Azka, meaning delicious, Denya, meaning world) is the newest casual eating addition to the Queen West strip. You can expect fresh flavours and traditional Middle Eastern dishes from this diner-style restaurant. Azkadenya originated in Jordan and found success when it opened in Dubai. Because of Toronto’s multicultural population, the Queen West location was the perfect spot to open Canada’s flagship store.
The Eats
Azkadenya s known for its traditional, street-style inspired dishes. You order your selection at the counter and then enjoy the spread at one of the many small or communal tables. Their ingredients are locally sourced and all the meat is certified Halal. Expect a twist on classic dishes like hummus and tahini with the addition of unique ingredients like beets and walnuts. And to top all your dishes, you can choose from a selection of house-made sauces.
Must Haves
With the incredible selection of grilled meats, fresh dips and platters, the choice can be somewhat overwhelming, but we are here to help! The Mezze Platter is a must-have since you’ll get a chance to taste 5 of their incredible dips/salads. The Baba Ghanoush and Beet Hummus were definitely stand-outs for us.

If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy traditional shawarma, you’ll be floored with the presentation of their table side shawarma skewer. The meat is perfectly tender, juicy and the experience of enjoying it right off the grill. And finally, to get a little bit of everything, we’d highly recommend the Mixed Grill platter which comes with two types of meat, hummus, salad, french fries, all served on a large piece of naan bread.
The Looks
Walking into Azkadenya’s space feels like walking into a different country. They team has paid great attention to the small details and taken the time to pay homage to their roots and culture. The walls are adorned with old arabic advertisements and 60’s inspired pop art. The space is open, bright and very welcoming making you feel at home, especially with the throw pillows at each table. Just don’t take a nap!
