On Saturday morning I received a tweet from @EvolutionPR inviting me to a food and art event hosted by Bluebird TO. Miss @ValTorontoGal was also in on the tweet and while I hesitated when she urged me to go with her, I also thought, food and art? Yes, this peaked my interest enough, so I decided it was something that could make for a fun night out with Val, her other half and my other half. I also wanted to attend because the whole event was based around raising money for the Daily Bread Food Bank, which is a personal favourite charity of mine.
Upon arrival, we were overwhelmed by the amount of people there – what a fantastic turnout! We immediately noticed very unusual art in the form of a prosciutto mannequin, an apple core designer dress and more interesting art pieces made of common foods. Bluebird TO was created by a lovely gentleman named Devan Rajkumar who initiated this event in 2010 and is very passionate about keeping it going and raising awareness about the underprivileged community in Toronto. The main sponsor of the event was The Food Dudes – a fantastic catering company that serves tasty and artsy food – one of the best catering companies around, in my opinion. The food was so fantastic the crowd flocked to the servers like bluebirds on a wire – like my pun? Ha!
Watch the vlog and check out this outrageous food art – it’s definitely a head turner!
