For some, such as those of us here at VTV headquarters, there’s been a great deal of anticipation leading up to the launch of Carmen, a new traditional Spanish restaurant on Queen Street West. The duo of Veronica Carmen Laudes and Chef Luis Valenzuela of Kensington based Torito Tapas Bar launched the tapas style spot just this past weekend, and we still can’t get them on the phone to make a reservation. Taking over the former space of Brazilian restaurant Cajú, Carmen will serve everything from little tapas delights to huge paella platters for two.
Ever since speaking to Luis about this new venture at Foodshare’s Recipe for Change over his award winning bacon wrapped stuffed dates (drool), I’ve been waiting for them to open their doors. The website isn’t quite ready and there’s no voicemail if you call them, but I’m sure that will change in the not too distant future. Much luck to Veronica and Luis – I hope I can get a table soon!
