The holidays are quickly approaching and, in Toronto, that means the holiday spirit is back in full swing, with activities and decorations popping up across the city. Some of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods, along with iconic institutions, participate. A regal holiday lights tour, complete with decorations, lights and even visits with Santa is back again this year. It offers tons of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities in front of the city’s most recognizable backdrop: Casa Loma.
Here’s what you need to know about Casa Loma’s Christmas at the Castle
This year’s Christmas at the Castle includes larger-than-life decorations alongside family-friendly performances and activities, including crafts for kids like cookie decorating and more. The entire castle is transformed for the holidays, and even boasts a 40-foot Christmas tree in the Great Hall. It’s also accompanied by eight other trees, all of which are outfitted by Canadian designers. The event is charitable too, with Casa Loma hosting a toy drop-off benefitting the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. Additionally, a dollar from each ticket sale will be donated to the same foundation. The event runs daily, with the first admission starting at 9:30 a.m. and the last at 4 p.m., from December 1st to January 8th. Tickets are $45 and are available online.
About the Holiday Lights Tour
Beginning at 5 p.m., the castle grounds come to life with decorations, twinkling lights and more, thanks to the Holiday Lights Tour. Running through the Casa Loma grounds’ trails and tunnels, the walk is intentionally self-guided to allow guests to stop and enjoy their favourite installations at their own pace. There are on-site performances, too, and kids are still able to visit Santa’s workshop at the castle. Tickets are available online, and VIP tickets, which admit two people and include food and drink vouchers, are also available. The last admission of the night is at 10 p.m.
